The number of tourists arriving in the Maldives this year has reached 1.8 million, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Environment.
The statistics show that the arrivals represent an increase of 9.9 per cent compared to the 1.6 million tourists during the same period last year.
The largest number of tourists so far this year came from China. Below are the ten leading source markets:

So far this year, an average of 6,015 tourists has arrived in the Maldives daily. On average, tourists stay in the country for six to eight days.
Government estimates that 2.3 million tourists will visit the Maldives this year, having recorded one million visitors in the first six months.
