Tourist Numbers Show 11% Growth
The Tourism Ministry has reported an 11% increase in tourist arrivals to the Maldives compared to the same period last year.
According to official statistics, from January 1st to July 28th, 2025, a total of 1,276,242 tourists visited the Maldives. This marks a 9.5% increase from the same period in 2024, when 1,165,934 arrivals were recorded.
Focusing on July alone, between the 1st and 28th, 168,112 tourists visited the Maldives—an 11.8% rise compared to the 150,045 arrivals in the same period last year.
China continues to be the Maldives’ top tourist market, contributing 14.5% of all arrivals. Russia and the UK follow with 11.8% and 9.4% of the total share, respectively.

On average, 6,106 tourists arrive daily, with the majority opting to stay at resorts. So far, 932,504 tourists have stayed at resorts, while 281,669 have stayed at guesthouses.
The Ministry has licensed a total of 1,244 tourist facilities, which includes 175 resorts, 886 guesthouses, 159 safari vessels, and 16 hotels. These establishments offer a combined total of 64,095 beds.
With over 1.2 million tourist arrivals recorded so far this year, the government remains focused on reaching its target of 2.3 million tourists by the end of 2025.
