The Movie Gets Comparisons to Movies Like Back to the Future and Night at the Museum
While plot details haven’t been shared, it’s described as being in the vein of Night at the Museum, Back to the Future, and Big. It’s also said to be inspired by other toy-inspired hit films like Jumanji and Barbie. Olko will produce for Toys ‘R’ Us Studios alongside Story Kitchen’s Johnson, Goldberg, Timothy I. Stevenson, and Elena Sandoval.
Toys ‘R’ Us was particularly popular during the 1980s and 90s. Along with its TV commercials and catchy theme song, the store was also known for its mascot, Geoffrey the Giraffe, who was initially introduced as Dr. G. Raffe. However, the brand’s presence would be diminished amid the rise of online shopping. After closing down most stores, Toys ‘R’ Us made a bit of a comeback in 2022 by opening smaller stores with Macy’s locations. Fans of the brand also have fond memories of visiting Toys ‘R’ Us stores in decades past, making it very nostalgic for many in 2025.
A release date has not yet been set for the Toys ‘R’ Us film.
