Planning to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi this year? Indian Railways has announced a record 380 Ganpati Special train trips to make travel easier for devotees. From Maharashtra to the Konkan region and beyond, these trains will ensure smooth journeys during the festive rush. Check the full list of station stops and plan your trip accordingly.
The number of Ganpati special trains has been steadily increasing over the past three years. In 2023, Indian Railways operated 305 such trains, which rose to 358 in 2024. This year, with travel demand continuing to surge during the 10-day festival, a record 380 trips have been planned.
Ganpati Puja will be celebrated from August 27 to September 6, 2025. To accommodate the expected festive surge, Indian Railways began operating Ganpati Special trains on August 11, 2025, with services gradually increasing as the festival nears.
Halt Stations
The first set of trains began running on August 11, with more to be introduced closer to the festival period. Routes through the Konkan region will see halts at major towns. The halts of Ganpati Special trains serving over Konkan Railway have been planned at Kolad, Indapur, Mangaon, Goregaon Road, Veer, Sape Warmne, Karanjadi, Vinhere, Diwankhavati, Kalambani Budruk, Khed, Anjani, Chiplun, Kamathe, Sawarda, Aravali Road, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Adavali, Vilavade, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road, Nandgaon Road, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, Kudal, Zarap, Sawantwadi Road, Madure, Thivim, Karmali, Madgaon Jn, Karwar, Gokama Road, Kumta, Murdeshwar, Mookambika Road, Kundapura, Udupi, Mulki and Surathkal.
Ganpati Special Train
Bookings for the Ganpati special trains are available on the IRCTC website, the RailOne app, and at computerized reservation counters. Ganesh Chaturthi, one of western India’s most celebrated festivals, will be observed this year from August 27 to September 6, a period that usually sees a surge in travel as families return to their hometowns. To manage the high demand, Indian Railways has scheduled a record number of trips, aiming to ease congestion and provide passengers with more travel options during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
