Tunisia and Algeria are seeking to take their economic cooperation to a new level.
On Saturday, on the sidelines of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025), held from September 4 to 10 in Algiers, Tunisia’s Minister of Trade and Export Development, Samir Abid, met with his Algerian counterpart, Minister of Domestic Trade and Regulation of the National Market, Tayeb Zitouni.
The two ministers emphasized the need to establish new mechanisms for economic integration in order to facilitate trade flows and remove barriers hindering the movement of goods.
The goal is clear: to increase the volume of trade exchanges in line with the guidelines set by the leaders of both countries.
A Cooperation Oriented Toward Africa
Beyond their bilateral partnership, Tunis and Algiers aim to combine efforts to capture African markets.
The ministers stressed the importance of holding more frequent meetings and exchanging expertise to create new opportunities for exporters on both sides of the border.
A statement from the Tunisian Ministry of Trade noted that these discussions build on the strong historical ties between Tunisia and Algeria.
The two countries now seek to transform this political closeness into genuine economic integration, beneficial to their respective peoples.
This shared determination to deepen economic relations represents another step toward consolidating a more integrated Maghreb region, better positioned within African and international trade dynamics.
