Tunkhannock Area musicians receive All-State honors – Wyoming County Examiner

The Tunkhannock Area High School Music Department had four students who qualified for Pennsylvania Music Educators’ Association All-State Ensembles and one student who qualified for the National Association for Music Education All-Eastern Treble Chorus this year.

Mary Boecker (All-State Chorus, Soprano 2), Graceanna Bonnice (All-State Chorus, Soprano 1), Molly Keiser (All-State Chorus, Soprano 2), and Bryce Miller (All-State Band, Alto Saxophone 1) traveled to Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in the Poconos in April to rehearse and perform along with their respective ensembles.

Each year, thousands of student musicians across Pennsylvania audition through a competitive, multi-tiered process beginning in the fall. After advancing through acceptance auditions, as well as district and region levels, only the top performers are selected for All-State.

In addition to earning first chair while at All-States this year, Bryce Miller made Tunkhannock Area School District history as the only instrumentalist to have ever qualified for PMEA All-State Band for three consecutive years.

Graceanna Bonnice was also selected as a participant in the NAfME All-Eastern Treble Chorus. She applied in the fall of 2024 after qualifying for a spot in the PMEA All-State Chorus in the 2023-2024 school year. The All-Eastern Honors Ensembles are comprised of 600 students from 10 states who scored the highest in their state for their respective All-State festivals. This year, it was held at the end of April in Hartford, Connecticut.

During the festivals, the All-State and All-Eastern students rehearsed under the guidance of nationally recognized conductors and concluded the event with a public performance showcasing their talents.
