UN announces end of term of Humanitarian Coordinator Chuma
The United Nations in Libya has confirmed the end of the term of Deputy Special Representative, Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator Aeneas Chuma, who completed his duties after serving in Libya since September 2024. He will be succeeded by Ingeborg Richardson of Sweden.
The UN said in a statement on Sunday that Chuma, who completed his work last Thursday, distinguished himself with his steadfast leadership in various areas of UN development and humanitarian work in Libya.
He supported emergency response, promoted inclusive and sustainable development, championed a people-centered approach, and worked to strengthen cooperation with Libyan and international partners alike.
The UN thanked Chuma for his dedication, adding, “His contributions will remain an important part of the UN’s ongoing commitment to the people of Libya.”
