Upgrading from a Seltos: What car on a 20-25L budget?
Why not try a Virtus/Slavia over the City?
BHPian Arnav612 recently shared this with other enthusiasts:
This is me seeking advice as to what could replace my Kia Seltos.
It’s a 2020 GTX+ DCT with all the bells and whistles.
However, off late mom (the primary user) has been complaining about it. She’s not happy with the ageing of the car over a mere span of 5 years and 15k kms. Claims that the steering is noisy, interiors are wearing out even though it’s singly used by her. While these things can be fixed, she has zeroed down on a new car.
A few requirements:
- Petrol Only (Very very urban limited usage)
- 360 deg camera
- General creature comforts comparable to the Seltos
- Not too expensive to maintain
Budget is around 20-25 Lacs. Cars roughly considered right now are Elevate & City. They don’t really want Koreans again and we’ve had the 2nd, 3rd and 4th gen Citys and they swear by their reliability and quality.
We were also thinking of giving the ZS EV to mom and have dad buy a new car for himself (like an XUV7OO or something since he’s chauffeured 95% of the time and for when he self drives he has a C-Class).
Waiting on your suggestions! Thanks !
Here’s what BHPian car_guy1998 had to say on the matter:
I’d recommend you to hand over the ZS EV to your mom and let your dad buy a car like Hycross Hybrid or XUV700 since he’s chauffeured most of the time.
Honda might be good to buy due to its reliability, but with its dwindling sales, I don’t think I recommend one and Elevate, as far as I heard, has poor NVH when compared to Seltos.
I TD’ed the Elevate during my visit to India last year and felt ok but not in the leagues of Creta/Seltos though somewhat felt better than Taigun/Kushaq in terms of rear seat and driver seat position.
But, somehow, for me, City>Elevate any day, says a guy, who is coming from a 4th gen City Diesel, whose car has run close to 2L Kms (193k Kms) to be precise and is looking to replace the car with an EV or Petrol AT as our usage is less and have Hycross Hybrid for other purposes. Considering the City too as the replacement for my 4th gen City but for today standards, it felt too long in the tooth IMO.
Why not try Virtus/Slavia over the City?
Here’s what BHPian vedantpatkar17 had to say on the matter:
I’d recommend considering ZS EV or upcoming eVitara for your mom. However, for your dad, I’d suggest the Safari or Hycross, as he is chauffeured most of the time. The Safari and Hycross offer better second-row amenities compared to the XUV700.
