US Judge Sets July Bench Trial in DOJ Lawsuit Opposing Hewlett Packard-Juniper Merger Proposal

A bench trial will determine whether the U.S. Department of Justice successfully blocks Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. from acquiring tech rival Juniper Networks Inc.

U.S. District Judge P. Casey Pitts of the Northern District of California ordered the trial to begin July 9 as HPE defends its proposed $14 billion acquisition of Juniper as a win-win transaction for consumers and competition.

The two-week bench trial is expected to feature testimony from fact witnesses and expert witnesses who will speak to the potential effects an HPE-Juniper merger may have in the U.S. technology market for enterprise-grade wireless networking solutions. Both companies are headquartered in Silicon Valley.
