New Delhi: A US woman, who shifted to India at the age of 19, shared how the city of Mumbai changed her life and helped her grow. Eliza Karaza was just 19 when she packed her bags for Mumbai from the US. Despite being completely unaware of how life would be in the country, Karaza took a chance. Reflecting on the decision she took 10 years ago, she is happy.

Karaza first moved to Mumbai in 2015 to work as an art teacher in a school in the city. The Syrian-American artist, who is also an entrepreneur, wrote a love letter to “Bombay” on social media.  In her Instagram post, the woman talked about her relationship with the city. She claimed, when she moved to the city, she was clueless about the location of her school or even her salary. But life in Mumbai turned out to be a beautiful experience.

“Ten years ago, I went to Mumbai for a job. I hadn’t spoken to the employer. I didn’t know where either was staying when I got there. I didn’t know how I would get to whatever unknown place they were putting me. I didn’t know what my salary would be,” wrote Karaza. She added, “Where the job was even going to be. It was a teaching gig, but I didn’t know which school it was going to be at. But who cares?! I was 19 and excited!”

Further, in the carousel post, Karaza wrote, “I love Bombay.” She added, “I felt how easy it was to get around. I felt so free.”

Netizens had a lot to comment on Karaza’s post. Many lauded her in the comments. They were encouraged by her sheer leap of faith. One wrote, “This is so inspiring..as a fellow creative navigating work for the first time.” A second person commented, “Recently moved to South Korea without a place to live LMAO I feel u. This post is the motivation I needed today.”
