Uttar Pradesh Sets Sights on Becoming North India’s Data Centre Hub, Says Minister Nandi, ET Government
Uttar Pradesh’s Minister for Industrial Development, Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi speaks at the ET Digital UP Conclave in LucknowLUCKNOW: At the ET Digital UP Conclave, Uttar Pradesh’s Minister for Industrial Development, Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, emphasized the state’s emergence as the data centre hub of North India. Citing projects like the Hiranandani Group’s data centre in Noida, he credited UP’s robust digital infrastructure for attracting major investments in IT and technology. Nandi noted the state’s digital transformation during the COVID-19 pandemic, such as using drone technology for rapid land record mapping. He highlighted the state’s success in boosting software exports and job creation, with over 400 STPI-registered IT and ITES companies now operating, including global firms like IBM, Deloitte, Genpact, and HCL in cities beyond Noida, like Lucknow.
The minister announced the establishment of India’s first AI Centre for Excellence in Lucknow and the launch of the “AI Pragya Yojana,” aimed at training over 10 lakh youth in advanced digital skills. He also pointed to improvements in the business environment through initiatives like a single-window portal for investor support.
Nandi declared that UP is progressing steadily towards becoming a trillion-dollar economy.
