On March 21, trucks carrying the aid crossed through Termez into Afghanistan’s Balkh province. The shipment included essential food items such as flour, wheat, pasta, vegetable oil, sugar, instant food, red beans, and mung beans.

The handover took place in Hairatan at the premises of the Astras company, with officials from both countries in attendance. Following the delivery, a bilateral meeting was held in Mazar-i-Sharif, where discussions focused on strengthening cooperation. Among the topics addressed was the construction of the Imam Bukhari mausoleum, a project Uzbekistan is undertaking in Afghanistan.

Afghan officials expressed their gratitude to the president and people of Uzbekistan for the continued assistance and extended their best wishes for Ramadan.

This latest aid follows Uzbekistan’s previous humanitarian efforts. In December, under President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s directives, humanitarian aid and a Health Train were sent to Afghanistan. Uzbek medical professionals on board provided free medical check-ups to Afghan citizens.

In January 2025, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan surged to $153.7mn, an increase from $46.3mn in 2024 and $52.7mn in 2023. Exports climbed to $104.2mn, exceeding the $45.5mn recorded in 2024 and $52.4mn in 2023. Imports saw a sharp rise, reaching $49.5mn in 2025, compared to just $0.8mn in 2024 and $0.3mn in 2023.
