Uzbekistan Strengthens Cooperation with IFAD at the UN Food Systems Summit

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Addis Ababa, where the Second UN Food Systems Summit (UNFSS+4) is taking place, the Uzbek delegation is actively participating in a series of high-level meetings and thematic sessions.

Minister of Agriculture Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov held talks with President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Álvaro Lario. The parties highlighted the successful implementation of IFAD projects in Uzbekistan. The head of the fund praised their social and economic impact and expressed readiness to further develop cooperation.

In addition, the minister took part in a high-level session on “Transformation in Times of Instability,” organized with the support of the UN World Food Programme (WFP), UNICEF, and the HDP Nexus Coalition.

The discussion focused on stabilizing food systems, shifting from short-term humanitarian aid to long-term strategic solutions, and attracting innovative investments into the agri-food sector.

International experts commended Uzbekistan’s ongoing agricultural reforms, underscoring the importance of land liberalization, the introduction of resource-saving technologies, and the development of science-based farming.
