While Delhi-NCR rings in Diwali, the city is getting choked with hazardous air pollution under GRAP 2 restrictions. Actor Vaani Kapoor, celebrating the festival with her family in the city, shared her concerns about the AQI on Instagram Story on Tuesday.

In her Instagram Stories, Vaani wrote, “Woke up to Delhi’s AQI touching 447, one of the highest in the world today. Maybe next year, we find a way to celebrate without dimming the air we breathe.”

Delhi’s AQI of 447 falls under the ‘severe’ category, which affects even healthy individuals and seriously impacts those with existing illnesses. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, an AQI between 401-500 is considered severe, while Stage 2 of the GRAP plan imposes strict anti-pollution measures to curb further deterioration.

Earlier this year, Vaani Kapoor made her OTT debut with ‘Mandala Murders’, an adaptation of the novel The Butcher of Benares. Set in the fictional town of Charandaspur, Uttar Pradesh, the series blends mystery, supernatural horror, and psychological thriller elements. It follows detectives Rea Thomas and Vikram Singh as they probe ritualistic murders connected to a secret cult, the Aayastis, and a mythical entity called Yast. Exploring themes of faith versus science and love versus sacrifice, the show merges modern investigative methods with occult practices. The series also features Vaibhav Raj Gupta, Surveen Chawla, Raghubir Yadav, and Shriya Pilgaonkar in pivotal roles.

Vaani’s next project is the film ‘Badtameez Gill’, directed by Navjot Gulati, which also stars Aparshakti Khurana, Paresh Rawal, Sheeba Chaddha, Richard Bhakti Klein, and Monica Chaudhary.

The 37-year-old actor made her Bollywood debut with ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ (2013), alongside Sushant Singh Rajput and Parineeti Chopra. She then starred in the Tamil remake ‘Aaha Kalyanam’ opposite Nani, learning Tamil for the role, though the film did not perform well at the box office.

In 2016, she appeared in ‘Befikre’ opposite Ranveer Singh, set in Paris, which also failed to make a mark commercially. After a short hiatus, Vaani returned with ‘War’ (2019) alongside Hrithik Roshan, and has since been seen in films like ‘Shershaah’, ‘Khel Khel Mein’, and ‘Raid 2’.
