Vancouver Chamber Players to kick off season for Maple Ridge Music Society
Sounds of chamber music will once again reverberate through a music room on a farm just outside downtown Maple Ridge.
The Maple Ridge Music Society is opening its season on Sunday Oct. 5, with a concert by the Vancouver Chamber Players.
However, the concert format will be different than in previous years.
It will start with a reception with snacks and drinks, then the concert will take place, uninterrupted for about an hour.
The group will be performing Franz Schubert’s final chamber work, “String Quartet in C major.”
The Vancouver Chamber Players are a group of professional musicians who search out and perform neglected pieces from the chamber music repertoire.
They will be playing in the chamber-style music room at Westacres, on a 20 acre farm just outside the downtown core of Maple Ridge.
The concert will take place at 12.45 p.m. and tickets can be bought by donation by calling: 604 467-3162 or by email at: [email protected].
A donation of $35 is suggested.
Maple Ridge Music Society is dedicated to offering classical chamber music of the highest standard to our community.
Musicians of national and international reputation have found their way to Westacres for more than four decades, including some of Canada’s finest pianists, such as: Jon Kimura Parker, Angela Hewitt and Anton Kuerti
Regularly, soloists and ensembles from North America, Europe and Asia, contracted by the Vancouver Recital Society, have performed there, in addition to young artists like violinist James Ehnes, before they entered the world stage.
Westacres is located at 23575 124 Ave, Maple Ridge.
