After a years-long battle between a popular NYC music venue and the surrounding community, a settlement has been announced and moving forward, the venue will operate with a concert cap and several additional regulations.

Concert Cap, Curfews and Monitoring & More Following Forest Hills Settlement

On October 22nd, the news got out that Forest Hills Stadium, former home of the U.S. Open turned historic NYC venue, would continue to operate as such, but with a number of regulations. Several outlets including the New York Times and Billboard announced that the Queens-based venue will be limited to 28 concerts per season with the potential to hit 29 shows during ‘renewal terms.’ This is a slight decrease from the more than 30 shows during peak years in the past.

The settlement also imposed ‘regular per-show payments and one-time upfront financial package directly to the Forest Hills Gardens Corporation.’ There will also be ‘enforceable’ weekday curfews and audio monitoring to ensure compliance with sound ordinance restrictions. Finally, there will be designated ‘entry and exit corridors for attendees’ in order to regulate concert attendees presence in private residential areas surrounding the stadium. There are now fireworks restrictions for the venue as well.

FHGC vs. West Side Tennis Club

The private streets surrounding Forest Hills Stadium are owned by FHGC, the Forest Hills Gardens Corporation, and for years they have been involved in a battle with the West Side Tennis Club who own/operate the stadium. Event operator Tiebreaker has also been named in recent lawsuits initiated by FHGC.

With the announcement of the settlement on October 21st, it was shared that FHGC has agreed to end all pending lawsuits and operate under the new framework which will be in place through 2040.

In a statement shared by QNS.com, West Side Tennis Club was quoted as sharing the following

Reaching this resolution took patience and constructive dialogue from all sides. We are grateful to our members as well as the Forest Hills community for their patience and engagement throughout this process. We look forward to building on this work in support of our membership, the Stadium’s continued success, and the benefit of the neighborhood we are proud to call home.

The 2027 calendar already includes two shows from Fontaines D.C. in September, and 05/15/27 with BUNT.
