VIDEO: Moonstone musician’s ‘hidden talent’ discovered by Amazon

A local musician is getting his moment in the spotlight thanks to an Amazon Music program.

Nick Bellingshausen, who lives in the Oro-Medonte village of Moonstone, is one of four artists included in Northern Echoes, which features emerging Canadian musicians.

“Available to watch on YouTube and Instagram, with exclusive listening on Amazon Music, this groundbreaking content series discovered hidden talent from remote Canadian communities through an open submission process,” NATIONAL Public Relations stated in a news release. “The result is a collection of four original songs, released as Amazon Music Originals, featuring artists at the dawn of their musical careers.”

“Northern Echoes is a testament to the incredible talent of Canada’s rural and remote communities,” said Tyler Tasson, brand and artist marketing lead with Amazon Music Canada. “Through the voices of Levoy, Morgan Robertson, Barrin May and Nick Bellingshausen, we’re not just showcasing undiscovered artists, but also celebrating the diverse landscapes and cultures that shape their music. This series embodies the commitment from Amazon Music to amplifying unique Canadian voices and sharing them with the world.”

Bellingshausen’s featured track is called Overtime. In the video below, he performs it in Rouge National Urban Park in Markham.
