Vir Vikram Yadav Appointed as Central Pollution Control Board Chairman

The Government of India has appointed Vir Vikram Yadav, IAS (OR:96) as the Chairman of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the assignment of additional charge to Yadav, who currently serves as Additional Secretary in the same ministry.

Yadav will take on the crucial responsibility of overseeing India’s pollution control efforts and environmental regulations until a regular incumbent is appointed or further orders are issued. His leadership comes at a time when environmental sustainability and pollution mitigation are national priorities, with CPCB playing a central role in policy enforcement, monitoring industrial emissions, and protecting natural resources.

With decades of experience in governance and administration, Yadav’s appointment is expected to enhance the effectiveness of CPCB’s initiatives. His expertise in the environmental sector will be instrumental in strengthening pollution control mechanisms and promoting sustainable development practices across the country.
