Will Abhishek Banerjee be back as Jana?

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Abhishek Banerjee shared his thoughts about Maddock Films’ mega update on its horror-comedy universe. The actor’s character Jana has a knack for attracting ghosts and demons. And that makes his role a strong one in this universe.

“In Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya, the audience have seen Jana and about the other projects, well let’s just say Jana Bhooton (ghosts) aur Daanavo (demons) ka favourite hai toh kuchh bhi ho sakta hai. But yes, not just as an actor but as someone who loves this genre this is a great start to 2025,” he told the entertainment portal.

Meanwhile, Maddock Films announced as many as 8 new spooky comedy films. According to the announcement, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon’s Bhediya 2 will be released in cinemas on August 14, 2026. Chamunda, a new addition to the universe, will hit the big screen on December 4, 2026.

This year, two films from the aforementioned universe will be released on the big screen. Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thama is scheduled for a theatrical release on Diwali 2025.

On the other hand, a film named Shakti Shalini will be out in cinemas on December 31, 2025. In 2027, Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s Stree 3 will hit the silver screen on August 13, 2027, and Maha Munjya will be out on December 24, 2027. Later, in 2028, Pehla Mahayudh will be released on August 11 and Doosra Mahayudh on October 18.
