Volkswagen Taigun was spied for the first time in India – Car News

Here’s a sneak peek of the Taigun facelift, which gives enthusiasts an idea of what’s coming. Known for its German engineering but lagging behind segment leaders like the Hyundai Creta, the 2025 Taigun is getting a much-needed upgrade.

Volkswagen Taigun is one of the lowest-selling mid-size SUVs, which is dominated by the Hyundai Creta. The German manufacturer is testing the 2025 Taigun facelift, and it was spotted for the first time in India. The upcoming SUV’s camouflaged images were uploaded on social media by Aditya Lala (@adityalala2000) on X, formerly Twitter. Here’s what to expect from the 2025 Taigun.

Volkswagen Taigun Update: Design

The test vehicle was heavily clad from the front and the rear, while the side profile remained uncovered. As the vehicle was camouflaged, the updated tweaks weren’t revealed, but the SUV is expected to get a reworked rear, including the LED tail lamps. The 2025 Taigun is expected to continue to sport connected tail lamps, an extended roof spoiler, and roof rails.

Moving on to the front, the Taigun will get a new front fascia, a new grille, and reworked LED headlights. It could introduce new colour options and a new set of alloy wheels.

Volkswagen Taigun Update: Safety

Both the Taigun and its Skoda sibling, the Kushaq, are expected to be equipped with additional safety features like Level 2 ADAS. The SUV will be the first Volkswagen vehicle in the affordable range to come equipped with this feature, which will offer Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking, a 360-degree camera, Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Warning (FCW), etc. The Virtus is also expected to get an update soon after the Taigun.

Volkswagen Taigun Update: Engine options

The Taigun is available in two turbo petrol engines—the 1-litre 3-cylinder and the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder. The entry-level churns out 114 bhp at 5,000-5,500 rpm and max torque of 178 Nm at 1,750-4,500 rpm. It is available in two transmissions—a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic torque converter. The 1.5-litre version, on the other hand, makes 148 bhp at 5,000-6,000 rpm and 250 Nm at 1,600-3,500 rpm. It gets two gearbox options—a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

The updated Taigun could make its debut in early 2026, while the next-generation SUV is expected to be showcased in 2027.
