The Press Information Bureau (PIB), Guwahati today conducted a press conference on ‘Varta’ with media professionals in Kohima to provide an overview of the upcoming World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025.
The event is scheduled to take place in Mumbai from May 1-4, 2025.
Speaking at the event, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Press Information Bureau, Kohima, Assistant Director, Sonikumar Singh spoke on the importance of India’s audio-visual sector on the global stage.
He informed that the event Waves 2025 is an international summit dedicated to celebrating innovation and collaboration across media, entertainment and technology and aims to highlight India’s growing prominence in animation, visual effects, gaming and extended reality (XR).
The Assistant Director said that the summit is designed to position India as a global hub for the AVGC-XR (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality) industry with a focus to nurturing talent and boosting entrepreneurship.
Various countries are also participating at the event. The participation of international players highlights the ambition of the summit to serve as a key networking platform for creators, industry professionals and investors.
He apprised the media professionals about the detailed schedule of the summit and the opportunities it presents for content creators, producers and cultural ambassadors from across the country.
The event is also supported by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and is envisioned as a global platform celebrating the convergence of the audio-visual industry, including film, television, OTT, animation, gaming, and immersive technologies.
The event will see a line up of different plenary including Legends & Legacies: The Stories That Shaped India’s Soul; The New Mainstream: Breaking Borders, Building Legends; Remembering Manoj Kumar: Ace Film Maker, True Nationalist; Creative Bridges: Unlocking Power if Cultural & Digital Partnerships between UK & India; The Journey: From Outsider to Ruler and other topics on advertising, storytelling in the age of AI among others. The event will be attended by various renowned persons in the media world.
