Whitecourt Wolverines play Camrose Kodiaks for hockey home opener

A new season has begun for the Alberta Junior Hockey League and the Whitecourt Wolverines kicked it off with a home opener game against the Camrose Kodiaks.

In first period on Friday night, Oliver Gabrielson (with Carson Brisson) and Rhett Miller each scored for the Kodiaks.
This was followed by the Wolverines’ first goal of the season, made by Joey Melo, assisted by Rodion Tatarenko and Nathaniel Bannister. Ethan Short made the Kodiaks’ third goal in first period.

In second period, Colby Browne scored for the Wolverines, assisted by Matthew Sutter and Braden Keeble.
In third period, Jaxon Priddle scored for the Wolverines, assisted by Caleb MacDonald and Jalen Bianchet, tying the game and forcing it into overtime.
Unfortunately, the Kodiaks scored their fourth point in overtime, according to AJHL.

This was the first game of the regular season, though the Wolverines have played exhibition games already, including a win over the Drayton Valley Thunder on Sept. 2.
