- Why is Elon Musk, Microsoft’s Satya Nadella sharing video of this Indian woman farmer? watch video
Both Elon Musk and Satya Nadella emphasize the transformative potential of AI, in technology and also in critical sectors like agriculture.
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, praised artificial intelligence (AI) for its transformative potential in agriculture. Musk reshared a video originally posted by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, calling it “a fantastic example of AI’s impact on agriculture.” He further expressed his optimism about the technology, stating, “AI will improve everything.”
How AI Is Revolutionizing Farming
The video highlighted how AI-powered tools are enabling farmers to optimize their resources and improve productivity. Nadella showcased the story of a farmer from the Baramati cooperative in India, who experienced significant benefits from using AI technology. These included increased crop yield, reduced chemical usage, and better water management.
According to Nadella, the technology integrates geospatial data, temperature data collected via drones and satellites, and real-time soil analysis. With the help of AI, this data is processed to provide actionable insights directly to farmers in their local language. Farmers can simply ask questions and receive recommendations, which will empower them to make informed decisions for sustainable farming practices.

AI Combined Agricultural Data
The innovative use of AI in agriculture has shown promising results by enhancing efficiency and promoting sustainability. By making real-time data accessible and actionable, farmers are able to manage resources like water and chemicals more effectively, leading to environmentally conscious and cost-efficient practices.
Nadella On Missed Opportunities
In the same week, Satya Nadella discussed Microsoft’s missed opportunity in recognizing the potential of search as a dominant business model. Speaking with YouTuber Dwarkesh Patel, Nadella admitted that Microsoft underestimated the centralization of the web and the growing dominance of search engines like Google.
“We (Microsoft) missed what turned out to be the biggest business model on the web, because we all assumed the web is all about being distributed,” Nadella said, calling it one of his biggest professional lessons.
From optimizing farming techniques to making industries more efficient, AI continues to redefine possibilities for sustainable progress.
