Why Steven Spielberg Cut His Stepkid Jessica Capshaw Out of His Films

Steven Spielberg is a devoted papa, but that’s not stopping him from cutting his kids out of his films, including his stepdaughter Jessica Capshaw.

On Capshaw and her former Grey’s Anatomy co-star Camilla Luddington’s Call It What It Is podcast, Jessica revealed that she’s been cut from so many of her stepdad’s movies.

“You have no idea how many Spielberg movies I’ve been cut out of,” she said, revealing she was a background actor in Schindler’s List and A.I. Artificial Intelligence. But despite being in both in the background, Spielberg cut her. She didn’t explain why, but she did say he’s very supportive of her.

She said, “Every once in a while I will send—if I’m proud of a tape I’ve done—I’ll send it to him, and he’s just the best at giving… it’s not even feedback. I think that’s what it is, that I’m not asking for feedback, it’s just he’s so great at being like, ‘That was amazing!’ and does it full force. He’s just, you know, he’s on the sidelines clapping.”

Now, Spielberg has more children than you may think. He has a son named Max Samuel, with his first wife actress Amy Irving, born on June 1985.

Kate Capshaw named Sasha, born in May 1990, Sawyer Avery, born in March 1992, and Destry Allyn, born in Dec 1996. They also adopted two children named Theo, born in Aug 1998, and Mikaela George, born in Feb 1996. Along with that, Spielberg became the stepdad to Jessica Capshaw, the daughter of Kate Capshaw and her ex-husband Robert Capshaw, born in Aug 1976.

Along with that, he’s the godfather to Drew Barrymore and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Jessica has always spoken fondly of her stepdad, and even revealed how wonderful he is as a grandpa to her kids. “The kids talk about him all the time,” Jessica said on Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa. “They just think he’s the sweetest and the cutest, and they just are so proud of it.”
