Why Viktor Gyokeres is ‘Furious’ With Sporting CP as Man Utd ‘Fear’ Emerges
An interesting update in Manchester United’s pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres, the Swede is reportedly ‘furious’ with Sporting CP while Ruben Amorim and his entourage are growing ‘fearful’ that they could miss out on his signature amid fierce competition.
The Old Trafford chiefs, after a dull 2024/25 Premier League campaign, were keen to get new faces through the door as soon as possible and a fresh striker, amid uncertainty over Rasmus Hojlund’s future, could be high on the priority list.
And Gyokeres is a name in conversations. Alongside their interest in Victor Osimhen, Fabrizio Romano, writing for GIVEMESPORT, admitted that club chiefs have held talks with the talismanic 27-year-old, who scored a total of 54 goals in the 2024/25 season.

Gyokeres ‘Furious’ With Sporting Amid Man Utd ‘Fears’
Swedish striker isn’t happy with Sporting President Frederico Varandas
Inevitably, Gyokeres will be on the move this summer – but he’s reportedly displeased with his current employers for not respecting the gentleman’s agreement that they’d sanction a move to certain clubs for €60 million (+€10 million in add-ons).
Sporting President Frederico Varandas is now, per Record, said to be holding out for more around the €80 million mark. Per the report, Gyokeres remained in Portugal for 2024/25 as he was promised that he’d have more favourable conditions if he were to leave this summer instead, 12 months down the line.

The likes of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe both feature on this list, but don’t make the top three.
Adding to that, the Stockholm-born line-leader was assured that his release clause, worth €100 million, would not be an obstacle in a summer departure, and that he could leave if Sporting were to receive a bid of €60 million plus an objective-related €10 million.
The club’s financial demands did not go down well with a player widely regarded as one of the best strikers in world football – and he is reportedly ‘furious’ with the club’s higher-ups, so much so that he has deleted all references to The Lions from his Instagram page.
This could leave the door ajar for Amorim – who is one of the best young managers in the world – and his side, who lacked firepower in the 2024/25 campaign. A potent centre forward could really influence the tactician’s full season in the dugout.
According to GIVEMESPORT sources, the Red Devils – who have already announced the signing of Matheus Cunha – are not ruling out the prospect of opening dialogue with his employers if they become ‘fearful’ of losing the tug-of-war for his signature.
Ready to accelerate a move if they fear the prospect of him signing for one of their Premier League rivals – Arsenal, most notably – the Red Devils have earmarked him as their ‘first-choice’ arrival after hopefully striking a deal for Bryan Mbeumo.
Should Gyokeres complete a move to Old Trafford this summer, he’d get a chance to revive his career in the Premier League and, thanks to his form at the Jose Alvalade Stadium, it would be remiss to suggest that he wouldn’t improve Amorim’s side.
