Will Pakistan’s name appear on India’s jersey for Champions Trophy? BCCI breaks silence

New Delhi: The Indian team will strictly adhere to the dress code set by the International Cricket Council (ICC) during the upcoming Champions Trophy, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed on Wednesday. This statement came in response to speculation that the Board had objected to the host nation, Pakistan’s, name being featured on the official team jersey.

The Champions Trophy is scheduled to begin on February 19, with India set to play its matches in Dubai. This follows India’s decision to cite security concerns as the reason for not traveling to Pakistan.

BCCI’s commitment to ICC dress code

“We will follow every uniform-related ICC rule during Champions Trophy,” Saikia stated. “Whatever the other teams do regarding the logo and dress code, we are going to follow in true letter and spirit,” he added, emphasising the Board’s commitment to the tournament’s official guidelines.

Uncertainty over Rohit Sharma’s participation in media events in Lahore

Saikia also addressed the ongoing discussions regarding whether India’s national captain, Rohit Sharma, would travel to Pakistan for the ICC’s pre-tournament engagements, such as a press conference and official photo shoot. “Whether Rohit Sharma travels to Pakistan for ICC media engagements is something that’s still not decided,” he said.
