Witnessing disastrous trends all across India- The Week

It is not good news for Tiger Shroff and Baaghi 4 as the early estimates are pouring in on Day 2 at the domestic box office. The action flick has already opened at an underwhelming figure of Rs 11 crore on its first day, a figure that is lower than the 2016 release Baaghi which had clocked above Rs 12 crore. It must be remembered that the makers of Baaghi 4 have indulged in bulk corporate bookings, while also providing the ‘Buy 1 Get 1’ offer through BookMyShow platform. Despite all these marketing gimmicks, the footfalls for the film has been underwhelming to say the least.

On Day 2 (Saturday), you expect Bollywood films to show some sort of a jump in collections but Baaghi 4 is going in the opposite direction. Right from the morning shows, there has been a noticeable dip in occupancy across India. The morning shows on Friday reported an occupancy of approximately 22 percent but on Saturday, data for the same shows are at roughly 10 percent. This is a big decline in collections and while the noon shows have shown a semblance of upswing, the average occupancy of 13 percent is still much lesser than the noon shows on Day 1. Unless, there is a spectacular jump in the evening and night shows, Baaghi 4 is unlikely to get anywhere near double digits.

Early estimates indicate the Day 2 collections to be around Rs. 6.50 crore, which is about a 40 percent dip from the opening day collections. As things stand, Baaghi 4 is heading towards becoming a box office debacle. The heavy violence quotient had already restricted its audiences through the ‘A’ certificate and once that happens, the film has to have solid content to ensure a long run at the ticket windows. Clearly, the audiences have given a thumbs down to the Tiger Shroff-starrer which might even struggle to get to Rs.50 crore lifetime collections in India.
