Wolves Table Formal Offer to Sign ‘Freak Athlete’ as Player Preference Emerges
Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly one of five European clubs that have made concrete moves for Palmeiras midfielder Richard Rios.
Brazilian outlet ge reports that the West Midlands outfit have made a “formal offer” for the Colombian, who caught the eye at the FIFA Club World Cup. His displays in the United States have essentially put him in the shop window, and Vitor Pereira appears to be a fan.
The 25-year-old’s stock has continued to rise in Brazil and a move to Europe looks increasingly likely this summer. GIVEMESPORT sources were told earlier this summer that Manchester United had been monitoring his progress but they aren’t named as one of the clubs to have made offers.
Wolves Make Offer For Rios
They face heavy competition for Colombian
Liga Portugal giants Benfica appear to be frontrunners for Rios while Serie A club AS Roma have withdrawn from the race. But Wolves, Nottingham Forest, Everton, FC Porto and Zenit have all made formal offers to Palmeiras.
The Brazilians are seeking around €30m (£26m) to part ways with the Colombian international, who has been at the club since March 2023. He is a combative midfielder with an impressive engine room and dribbling abilities, but one setback for Wolves is that he is prioritising Champions League football.

Rios, described as a “freak athlete”, would be a similar acquisition to that of Andre and Joao Gomes, who joined Wolves from the Brazilian league over the past two years. They have formed a strong partnership in the middle of the park and adding the Colombian could make for one of the best midfield trios in the Premier League.
That’s if they can keep hold of Andre, who has reportedly emerged as a Juventus target. Pereira will be eager to keep hold of the 24-year-old and build on Premier League survival by swooping for one of the Club World Cup’s standout performers.
