World Bank approves $4 million to boost Jordan’s School Feeding Program | Business

Ammon News – The World Food Programme (WFP) in Jordan announced that the World Bank, in partnership with the Dutch government, has approved a $4 million contribution to support the National School Feeding Program (NSFP) in Jordan. The funds will finance and provide technical assistance for the implementation of the “Healthy Meal” initiative within the program.

This step is based on the results of an impact evaluation that showed positive effects of the school feeding program on students in the beneficiary areas within the Kingdom, which was studied by the World Food Programme.

In a report, reviewed by Al-Mamlaka, the WFP indicated that the “Healthy Meal” initiative has proven effective through impact evaluation, particularly in increasing school attendance and improving students’ nutritional knowledge and behavior.

The $4 million funding also includes technical support for those implementing the program inside Jordan, according to the report.

The program aims to provide “nutrition-sensitive” school meals that support children’s health and encourage school participation, with a focus on target groups within the framework of the National School Nutrition Strategy.
