The World Bank has paid tribute to the 8 fallen heroes
The World Bank Group has commiserated with Ghana after the fatal August 6 military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight individuals, including high-ranking government officials and members of the flight crew.
The fatal incident occurred on August 6, 2025, at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region.

The victims included Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah; Minister of Environment, Science, and Technology and MP for Tamale Central, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed; Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed; National Democratic Congress Vice Chairman, Dr Samuel Sarpong; and Deputy Director-General of NADMO, Samuel Aboagye.
Also aboard were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
In a press release sighted by GhanaWeb, the World Bank paid tribute to the victims for their dedication and service to the nation.
The message, addressed to the president, the bereaved families and the people of Ghana, the World Bank Group, described their loss as a significant blow to the country.

“We are saddened by the loss of these dedicated public servants, whose commitment to Ghana will be remembered with deep respect. Our thoughts are with the families of the departed and the Government of Ghana during this time of national sorrow,” part of the statement read.
