World Bank supports Water and Sanitation Project in Blantyre – Face of Malawi

The World Bank has donated a funding for water and Sanitation project in Blantyre. The project, is being carried out by Blantyre Water Board (BWB), aims to improve clean water supply and sanitation across the city.
Robert Hanjahanja, The Chief Executive Officer for BWB, said the project will focus on both water supply and sanitation and it will bring great changes to Blantyre city.
Minister of Water and Sanitation, Abida Mia, confirmed that the project has already started and the preparations on the ground are at its final stage.
“As we are speaking, the consultant is ready on the site. Soon, tenders will be placed to choose the contactors. The whole Blantyre will soon became a construction site” said Mia.
She added that apart from improving access to clean water and better toilets, the project will also create many job opportunities for local people.
