Morgan Lake has said she’s aiming high this season after confirming her attendance at the Diamond League London Athletics Meet at the London Stadium on Saturday, July 19.
The London Athletics Meet is set to be the world’s biggest one day event this season and a host of world class athletes are set to compete, including Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson – who is set to mark her return from injury at the event.
The Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow (WSEH AC) athlete will hope to perform to her best in front of a home crowd and is excited by the prospect of raising her level once again this season.
She comes into the 2025 season off the back of one of her most successful and most consistent years. She finished fourth at the World Athletics Championships and qualified to represent Great Britain once again at the Olympic Games in Paris.
She couldn’t force her way onto the podium in Paris but is the British record holder with a clearance of 1,99m, and she knows she’ll have to get closer to that mark on a more consistent basis if she’s to challenge the world’s elite for medals.
Earlier this month she finished sixth at the Diamond League event in Keqiao, China after clearing 1.88m, but the 27-year-old is hoping to raise the bar this summer.
Joining Lake and Hodgkinson at the event are Great British pole vaulter, Molly Caudery, fresh from her win at the Diamond League event in Doha this weekend, and Femke Bol, the multiple world champion from the Netherlands.
“Competing in front of a home crowd always brings out the best in me,” said Lake.
“The energy is unbelievable and I’m excited to be part of such an incredible line-up this year. I’m looking forward to building well throughout the season.
“I always look forward to competing in the London stadium – everything about it is world-class,” said Lake. “I’m enjoying my new training set up and I’m aiming high again this year, and I know London will be another important step on that journey.”
The London Athletics Meet — the world’s biggest one-day athletics event — is the eleventh meeting of the 2025 Wanda Diamond League.
The Diamond League series will pay out a record total of 9.24 million US dollars in prize money and comprises 15 of the most prestigious events in global track and field across four different continents It started in Xiamen on April 26 and concludes with a single final across two days in Zurich (August 27–28).
The London Athletics Meet is almost sold out but there are still tickets available for the London Stadium. Prices start from £25 for adults and £5 for juniors.
