Y Media Foreign Policy Report: India’s influence continues to grow under PM Modi’s leadership: Argentinian envoy
New Delhi, Sep 17 – Argentina’s Ambassador to India, Mariano Agustín Caucino, extended warm greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 75th birthday, wishing him good health, continued success, and strong leadership. He also highlighted that Argentina greatly values its partnership with New Delhi and is committed to further strengthening bilateral ties.
The ambassador noted that India has now become Argentina’s sixth-largest trading partner, with trade volumes reaching nearly $5 billion. He emphasised that the two nations are working to expand this relationship further, especially following Prime Minister Modi’s recent visit to Argentina. The celebration of 75 years of diplomatic friendship between the two countries has also added momentum to ongoing cooperation.
Caucino pointed to recent developments that have enhanced connectivity between the two nations, such as the decision allowing Indian citizens holding valid US visas to enter Argentina without applying for a separate visa. This measure, he said, will significantly boost tourism and encourage stronger people-to-people exchanges.
On the strategic front, Argentina and India have taken steps to deepen collaboration, including efforts to strengthen aviation links and build a broader strategic partnership. These initiatives, according to the ambassador, are helping to diversify cooperation beyond trade into areas of mutual interest.
Reflecting on India’s growing global role, Caucino remarked that the country, with the world’s largest population and one of the top five economies, is increasingly asserting itself as a responsible and influential player on the international stage. Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India has emerged as a stronger voice in global affairs.
He also praised India’s economic progress, describing it as remarkable. With India already the fourth-largest economy and projected to become the third largest in the coming years, the ambassador expressed confidence in its continued success. He underlined the complementary nature of the Argentine and Indian economies and stressed the vast potential for deeper economic linkages despite geographical distance.
Concluding his message, Caucino reiterated Argentina’s commitment to enhancing ties with India and once again extended his best wishes to Prime Minister Modi and the people of India on this special occasion.
