Yoga, Music, Mindfulness, & Community To Converge At Colorado’s Smalltown For The Cause [Preview]

Smalltown For The Cause, the newly renamed and relocated iteration of Campout For The Cause, will make its debut on Friday and Saturday, September 19th and 20th, 2025 at its new home in the heart of downtown Salida, CO, where attendees will enjoy performances by Elephant Revival, Moontricks, Clay Street Unit, Lindsay Lou, WinterWonderWomen, and many more along the Arkansas River with camping just a mile away and several lodging options in town [get tickets].

Beyond the sights and sounds, however, Smalltown For The Cause will offer a robust program of activities, workshops, and experiences for the mind, body and soul—from a long list of yoga sessions led by top instructors to workshops on meditation, songwriting, regenerative farming, instrument-making, and more.

The idea that live music, mindfulness, and community connection go hand in hand is central to the identity of the Bonfire Entertainment-produced Smalltown For The Cause, whose roots can be traced back to beloved Colorado festivals Campout For The Cause and Renewal.

“What I get out of my wellness practice is a steady sense of connection—to myself, to others, and to the present moment,” explained yoga instructor Mary Beth LaRue, who will lead a session called Embodied Ease: A Morning Flow alongside music by Ramona on Saturday, September 19th at Smalltown For The Cause. “Salida is one of my absolute favorite places in Colorado. There’s something so special about its tight-knit, vibrant community — it feels deeply alive and welcoming. Bringing a festival rooted in similar values to a place like this feels like such a beautiful alignment.”

“Good yoga is practical, magical, and transformative,” said Steph Winsor, who will lead a yoga session of her own with live music by LVDY (pronounced “Lady) on Saturday at Smalltown. “It is much more than poses done on a rubber mat. Yoga improves your experience in the world; it will evolve, inspire, and empower you. And, listening to great music does this too! Worries tend to fall away and inspiration abounds, you’ll feel your spark rekindled in class or in the festival crowd alike. Yoga and music festivals create space and time for you to explore joy, with more curiosity and less judgment.”

“Similar to music, yoga is a powerful way to expand the personal into the communal,” Winsor added. “You can always practice on your own but, join a group and you are sure to feel more inspired, playful, and empowered. … Yoga and music teach us how to connect within, collaborate with others, and ultimately find joy.”

“Yoga and music go together perfectly because a festival is the perfect liminal space—a place when time seems to bend and you become more present.” she continued. “Life is busy these days, and I think we all need to find more liminal spaces that spark joy. More places to pause, find embodied presence, and explore with more curiosity and less judgement. I love that Smalltown is a weekend where you can experience how time seems to bend when you are in nature, with good company, listening to extraordinary music, or moving your body.”

“…and that river,” LaRue added. “It’s one of my favorite spots to just sit, float, or dip my feet in. I can’t wait to be teaching, practicing and enjoying music alongside it.”

In addition to the sessions led by Winsor and LaRue, the Smalltown For The Cause yoga and workshop lineup includes a Friday Morning Mountain Flow with Lisa Shanken; Friday and Saturday Power Flow sessions and Mid-Set Movement led by Yoga OlasOut Here Yoga‘s Thursday and Friday Welcome Flow and Mid-Set Movement with Kelsey RyanAlana Mitnick‘s Slow Flow + Restore on Friday, and Intuitive Movement with Heath Perry on Saturday. This year, Smalltown For The Cause will raise funds for The Hutchinson Ranch as they work to keep their lands out of the hands of developers. The event will also donate to the Colorado Tick-Borne Disease Association, whose work hits close to home for the festival’s community. Find more information on this year’s causes here.
