Zelda Movie Gets Meme Easter Eggs on Google
While The Legend of Zelda live-action movie adaptation is not set to release for almost two years, Google is already dropping early Easter eggs for the film, with the platform’s search results for the actors playing Link and Zelda including small references to the hit franchise’s history. The Legend of Zelda movie has not yet revealed its central plot or general timeline, but the two confirmed lead cast members are already getting tongue-in-cheek nods from one of the world’s leading search engines.
Following the massive success of 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, audiences began speculating which Nintendo IP would be the next to receive a major blockbuster adaptation. Perhaps unsurprisingly, The Legend of Zelda series was revealed to be getting a motion picture, though the choice to make a live-action The Legend of Zelda movie, as opposed to an animated film, was met with skepticism. However, the recent casting announcements for Link and Zelda reignited enthusiasm for the live-action project, and now Google is stepping in to help fuel hype for the next Nintendo movie.

Zelda Movie Will Reportedly Be The Start Of A Trilogy
A source states that The Legend of Zelda’s ambitious 2027 movie adaptation will be the first film of a planned blockbuster trilogy.
First spotted by Eurogamer, when searching the names of The Legend of Zelda movie’s leading actors, fans can spot humorous taglines beneath the search bar. Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who will be portraying the heroic Link, has the guttural “KYAAAA! HYAAAAA!” sounds of the in-game character displayed above his name. Even more amusing, Bo Bragason, who is set to take on the role of Princess Zelda, has the beloved phrase, “Well excuse me, Princess” displayed at the top of her Google search results. This line was a catchphrase used by Link and directed towards Zelda in the animated television series The Super Mario Bros. Super Show. Both Link’s grunting noises and his iconic sassy line have become memes in their own right and are a hilariously clever Easter egg to help promote the actors’ upcoming roles in The Legend of Zelda film.
While originally set for a theatrical release on March 26, 2027, it was announced that The Legend of Zelda movie has been delayed, though only slightly. The new official release date at the time of writing has been confirmed as May 7, 2027, with Sony Pictures Entertainment and Nintendo stating that the change was made “for production reasons.” Though audiences will have just a bit longer than expected to wait to see how The Legend of Zelda is brought to life on the silver screen, early promotional tidbits like the Google Easter eggs are helping to keep fan hype riding high ahead of May 2027.
In spite of continued debate surrounding live-action versus animated video game adaptations, the overall popularity and success of The Legend of Zelda franchise has many optimistic about the upcoming film. Only time will tell if The Legend of Zelda reaches the same box office feats as other video game movies, and interested fans may want to follow along for updates on the movie as more details are revealed.
