Charlie Dior’s answer to why he takes inspiration from women’s outfits

In his recent interview with Deloris Frimpong Manso, aka Delay, on the Delay show, fashion enthusiast and stylist Charlie Dior opened up about his reason for taking inspiration from women’s outfits.

According to him, when it comes to fashion, he is gender-neutral when choosing an outfit for a programme.

This conversation follows the recent outfits he wore during the ‘All Black’ party held by Ridge Condos in Kumasi.

“So the Friday night… of course, it’s all-black and you have to do something to stand out so how can I make a simple all-black look; you know how can I elevate it to the next level? So, I gave you a pleddar moment with the cut out but it was still giving simple for me and so I took an inspiration from Tyra Banks.

“She once went to an event and he covered her face with a net. Recently, Kylie Jenner also did it as well. I wanted to bring it back to Ghana. How can I do it in my own version,” he explained.

Following his explanation, Delay asked him why he takes his inspiration from women rather than men.

Here’s what happened next:

Delay: Why don’t you take inspiration from men but instead women?

Charlie Dior: It doesn’t matter. I’m gender-neutral when it comes to fashion. So, I did mix the masculinity with the pants and also the feminity with the net and the way I styled it. So, I am gender-neutral when it comes to fashion. I break the norm of ‘I have to do it like a man or a woman’. In fashion, it’s very fluid.

Charlie Dior, known for critiquing celebrities’ outfits after events, was also asked if people were happy with his choice of attire for the All-Black party.

He stated that some people did not understand his fashion, so “they ended up burning it.” However, he mentioned that industry players and celebrities loved his outfit.
