Oman hails UN’s report on support for Palestinian cause

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman hailed in a speech delivered by the Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Idris bin Abdul Rahman Alkhanjari, the report prepared by the UN’s Trade and Development (UNCTAD) regarding the support provided for the Palestinian cause.

The report, delivered by the Ambassador of Palestine on behalf of the Arab Group, outlined the devastating impact of Israeli actions on the Palestinian economy and people’s livelihoods.

It has also detailed the severe damage to the Palestinian economy, restrictions on the West Bank, and the destruction of critical infrastructure in Gaza. These factors worsened poverty and unemployment and severely weakened the Palestinian government’s ability to function and provide essential services.

Meanwhile, Oman also called for bolstered financial and technical support for UNCTAD’s Palestinian assistance unit.

Along with the report’s recommendations, Oman urged immediate international action to halt the economic decline in Palestine, address the humanitarian crisis, and achieve lasting peace and development.

In its speech, the Sultanate of Oman’s government reaffirmed its constant support for Palestinian rights and called for UNCTAD to further assist Palestinians in achieving sustainable development.
