New Delhi: Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former minister in the Delhi government Atishi Singh on Saturday, 21 September 2024 took oath as the 8th Chief Minister of Delhi following the resignation of Arvind Kejriwal.

Atishi was administered oath by Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena in a low-key event.

Arvind Kejriwal had resigned after he was released bail by the Supreme Court.

By assuming the top post, Atishi has become the youngest leader to become Delhi’s Chief Minister and third woman to serve as Delhi CM following Sushma Swaraj of the BJP and Sheila Dikshit of the Congress.

Before she took oath, she and AAP leaders who are part of her cabinet met Kejriwal.

Other party members who have taken oath as ministers include Mukesh Ahlawat, Gopal Rai, Imran Hussain, Kailash Gahlot, and Saurabh Bharadwaj.

The list of portfolios assigned to Delhi Cabinet Ministers who took oath on Saturday has been released, with CM Atishi keeping 13 portfolios including Power, Education, Revenue, and Finance.

Saurabh Bhardwaj has been assigned Urban Development, Health and Tourism, while Gopal Rai has been given Development and Environment. Meanwhile, Kailash Gahlot has been given Transport, Home and IT.
