Top-ranked soccer team rallies past Rowan
Jared Dubose scored in the 79th minute Friday night to lift the top-ranked University of Mary Washington men’s soccer team to a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over No. 9 Rowan (N.J.) at the Battleground Complex.
Dubose, a transfer from Division I Radford, converted a pass from Julian Schmugge to help keep the Eagles unbeaten at 7-0. Jordy Santana and Gerrard Valovi also scored for UMW, which led 1-0 at halftime before allowing two straight goals to Rowan’s Johnny Troiano early in the second half.
Goalie Freddy Rogers made four saves for UMW, which faced third-ranked Colorado College Saturday evening in Newport News.
Despite 13 kills from Chloe Crosen, UMW a 3-0 decision at Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference foe Salisbury University on Friday evening (25-16, 25-23, 29-27).
Senior Lauren Foley posted team highs of 15 assists and nine digs and surpassed 2,000 career assists for the Eagles (7-6), who visit nationally ranked Johns Hopkins University next weekend for a two-day, three-match quad with Cortland State and Eastern University.
