Reforms in institutions are necessary for global peace and development, PM Modi’s appeal to the UN

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday addressed the 79th United Nations General Assembly session in New York, USA. At the ‘Summit of the Future’, PM Modi said, “Just in June, in the biggest election in human history, the people of India have given me the opportunity to serve for the third consecutive time and I have come here to convey the voice of one-sixth of humanity to you. When we are talking about the global future, a human-centric approach should be paramount. While giving priority to sustainable development, we also have to ensure human welfare, food, health security. We have shown that sustainable development can be successful by lifting 250 million people out of poverty in India. We are ready to share this experience of success with the Global South.”

PM Modi said, ‘Balanced regulation is needed for safe and responsible use of technology. We need a global digital governance in which national sovereignty and integrity remain intact. Digital public infrastructure should be a bridge and not a barrier.’
