Musical evening for young cancer patients held at Indus Hospital
A delightful evening unfolded at a local hotel in Karachi, where renowned musician Rashna Gazder, along with her piano students and senior musicians, performed for the children battling cancer at Indus Hospital. The Indus Hospital & Health Network is acclaimed for providing free medical care to thousands of patients across Karachi and beyond, with its Children’s Cancer Wards offering vital support thanks to generous donations. The event commenced with an exquisite fusion performance by Rashna Gazder on the piano and Terence Joseph on the keyboard, setting a high standard for the evening. The music resonated beautifully, showcasing the talent of school and university pupils from the Group Harmony In Helping Hands, marking their ninth fundraising effort to assist needy patients in Pakistan. University students Afshad Sidhwa, Zehra Zonash, Fatima Gardezi, and Alizeh Fatimi delivered remarkable performances, captivating the audience with their confidence and style. The program featured a charming selection of piano pieces, including “River Flows In You” by Yiruma, “Annie’s Song” by John Denver, and the “Blue Danube Waltz” by Johann Strauss. Younger school children also took the stage, performing short pieces that added to the event’s charm. Senior performers Janelle Dias and Azad Iqbal, grandson of Allama Iqbal, delivered powerful renditions of movie themes from Titanic and The Godfather. Janelle’s heartfelt performance of “Hero” served as a tribute to the children receiving treatment at Indus Hospital. Visual enhancements provided by Rashna’s son, Dr. Darayus Gazder, enriched each performance, creating a memorable experience for attendees. A special moment came when Saif Ullah, a survivor of pancreatic cancer treated at Indus Hospital in 2016, expressed gratitude for the dedication of the hospital’s team. The evening was a poignant reminder of the impact of music, evoking a range of emotions as “Music for a Cause” touched the hearts of all present. Salim Razzak Tabani, Director of Indus Hospital & Health Network, shared insights during the event, highlighting ongoing expansion and partnerships.
