In a recent update, the 3.5 km stretch of Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is now fully operational. This transformative project is aimed at improving connectivity between the two capital cities. Spanning 31.6 km, the new expressway is designed to reduce travel time.
A look at it:
3.5 km stretch open: An important 3.5 km stretch of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, from Daat Kali to Asharodi, is now fully operational. Previously, only three lanes were in use, but now all six lanes are open. This stretch is important for smoother travel between the two regions.
Infrastructure: The expressway, designed to reduce travel time and improve road safety, spans 31.6 km and features six lanes. It includes 7 underpasses, two Railway Over Bridges (ROBs), and 17 major and 37 minor junctions, significantly easing congestion and enhancing the flow of traffic.
Foot Over bridges: The expressway will include foot over bridges at various locations. This is especially beneficial for students and pedestrians who need to cross the road, ensuring safe passage without disrupting the traffic flow.
Two sections under development: The expressway is divided into two sections: the first section, 14.75 km long, built at a cost of INR 1,100 crore, and the second section, 16.85 km long, with a budget of INR 1,323 crore. These sections are being constructed by prominent companies, M/s Ganwar Construction and M/s Gayatri Construction.
Elevated sections: The expressway includes two 200-meter elevated sections. These elevated stretches, situated between Ganeshpur and Mohand town, and further to the Daat Kali Tunnel, are designed to avoid traffic bottlenecks and ensure smoother travel, enhancing the overall driving experience.
The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is an ambitious project that is set to drastically improve travel between the two cities. With its comprehensive features, including foot over bridges, underpasses, and elevated sections, it promises to make commuting safer, faster, and more efficient.
Once the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is completed, it will significantly reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun. It will improve the daily commute for thousands of travellers and mark a substantial improvement in the region’s infrastructure.
