‘When you are a terrible dancer…’
Aamir Khan’s son, Junaid Khan, made his acting debut with the Netflix film Maharaj in 2024. A few months down the line, the young actor is awaiting the release of his silver screen debut film, Loveyapa. He has been promoting the romantic comedy with his co-star Khushi Kapoor for some time now. In a recent interview, the film’s director, Advait Chandan, said he takes immense pride in the way Junaid (a self-confessed introvert) has made public appearances.

In an interview with Mid-Day, Advait Chandan took a stand for his film Loveyapa’s lead actor Junaid Khan. The filmmaker said it takes a lot of strength to stand in front of an audience that is ‘quick to throw eggs, tomatoes at you and troll you.’
“He (Junaid) still stands, does that one step again and again, and takes all of that just because he is keen on calling people to theatres. I take immense pride in that boy. It’s easy to go on stage or feature in a reel when you’re a good dancer. But when you’re a terrible dancer, to stand on stage and do that hook step takes courage,” he told the tabloid.
Advait also recalled he was initially unsure of having Junaid as the lead actor of his directorial. Revealing how Aamir Khan reacted to his hesitation, Chandan shared, “I went to meet Aamir sir and told him, ‘A film has been offered to me with Junaid and Khushi attached. I’m considering taking the film up, but I don’t know if Junaid is the right person for the film.’ He said, ‘Take up the film. If you think Junaid is not right for the part, then drop him. I won’t mind it and won’t create any pressure on you’.”
Aamir let Advait decide whatever was right for the film. The actor also advised the filmmaker to do readings and hang out with the young actors. And if felt they weren’t right by the end of the process, he was suggested to let go off them.
