The herd which stay at Taverham Mill near Norwich during the spring and summer typically return to Alton Water in Suffolk during the colder months.

However, they are currently staying at the mill due to the drier conditions and lower water levels this year.

A spokeswoman for Anglian Water, which runs the site, said: “The drier conditions and lower water levels this year have meant the grazing areas remain in good condition, meaning the cows have been able to stay at Taverham for longer than usual.

“They’ve been a real highlight for visitors over the spring and summer, helping us manage the grassland naturally while also attracting plenty of interest from people enjoying the site.”

The cows became an online sensation last summer after a TikTok video of visitors feeding them attracted more than one million views.

Visitors to Taverham Mill can still spot the cows grazing on the water meadows.

Anglian Water said it will continue to monitor ground conditions over the coming months.
