India News | Rajesh Verma Takes Charge as Chairperson of Commission for Air Quality Management

New Delhi [India], September 9 (ANI): Rajesh Verma, an officer of the 1987 batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Odisha Cadre, on Monday took charge as the new full-time Chairperson of the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM).

According to a statement from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change released on Monday, Verma has been appointed for a period of three years from the date of assumption of charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He has experience of over three-and-a-half decades and expertise in public administration and governance.

Verma has extensive experience working in different departments of the Central and state governments, including the President’s Secretariat, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Power, Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd. (REC) and various departments of Odisha government.

He has been a key stakeholder in addressing the issue of air pollution in these organisations, the release stated.

He also served as the Secretary to the President Draupadi Murmu prior to his superannuation on August 31, 2024.
