Sarfaraz Khan clears yo-yo test with this score! To be added to Test squad vs West Indies?
Young cricketer Sarfaraz Khan was expected to feature in India’s upcoming two-match Test series against the West Indies, which is set to begin on October 2 on home soil. BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar confirmed that the middle-order batter is injured while announcing the 15-member squad for the Tests.
Sarfaraz recently grabbed attention for an impressive transformation. He lost 17 kg in just 45 days during June and July. The middle-order batter revamped his regime with a strict diet and training after being criticized for falling below standards. He now looks leaner, toned, and in peak physical condition.
Sarfaraz Khan Clears Fitness Test Ahead of Ranji Trophy 2025-26
Sarfaraz Khan is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru following a quadriceps injury. During his rehabilitation, he successfully cleared the yo-yo fitness test, with a score of 17, according to Devendra Pandey from the Indian Express.

Sarfaraz has regained his fitness levels and is on track for a potential return to competitive cricket. Earlier, he had been slated to represent the West Zone in the 2025 Duleep Trophy but had to withdraw due to his injury.
Sarfaraz Khan Included in Mumbai’s Squad for Ranji Trophy 2025-26
Sarfaraz Khan has been included in Mumbai’s 24-member squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season, which begins on October 15. The middle-order batter is expected to be fully fit in time for Mumbai’s opening match against Jammu & Kashmir.
Sarfaraz, recovering from his earlier setback during the Buchi Babu Trophy in Tamil Nadu, has been a key player for the Mumbai team in the upcoming home season.
Shardul Thakur will lead the team as captain, while players such as Ayush Mhatre, Musheer Khan, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Siddhesh Lad, Suryansh Shedge, Tushar Deshpande, Shams Mulani, and Tanush Kotian also feature in the squad.
Sarfaraz Last Seen in Action in Buchi Babu Trophy
Sarfaraz Khan was last seen in action in the 2025 Buchi Babu Trophy, where he scored 305 runs across four innings, including two centuries. Earlier this year, he also impressed for India A against England Lions, scoring 92 off 119 balls in the first unofficial Test at Canterbury.
The right-handed batter has played six Tests for India, scoring 371 runs in 11 innings at an average of 37.10, including one century and three fifties. He made his Test debut in February 2024 against England under Rohit Sharma, scoring 62 off 66 balls before being run out.
The middle-order batter was omitted from India’s recent five-match Test series against England, which ended in a 2-2 draw. He was also not picked for the upcoming two-match Test series against the West Indies at home.
The 27-year-old has scored 4,685 runs in 55 first-class matches at an average of 65.98, including 16 centuries and 15 fifties, with a career-best unbeaten 301.
