Airfare Inflation Skyrockets Ahead of Diwali and Chhath Festivals | Ranchi News
Ranchi: Travelling home this Diwali and Chhath is turning out to be an exorbitant affair for many with airfares shooting up on several routes.
With Jharkhand and Bihar bound trains from southern, western and northern Indian cities being packed to the rafters, those who made last minute plans to take the aerial route to get home are paying anywhere between three to four times the regular fares as surge pricing remains high.
Bidisha and Bithin Chakrabarti, siblings from Ranchi’s Burdwan Compound, paid upwards of Rs 14,500 and Rs 13,500 respectively for their one-way flight from Bengaluru, which touched down at Ranchi airport on Tuesday evening.
The Railways has announced plans to run a Chhath Puja special train between Ranchi and Purnea Court in Bihar on November 3 and November 11 with stoppages at Muri and Bokaro Steel City. Likewise, another Chhath special was announced between Ranchi and Anand Vihar Terminal in New Delhi on November 1, 8 and 15.
