Apple Introduces Music Haptics Accessibility Feature Via IOS 18

Apple has officially launched the Music Haptics feature with the release of iOS 18. Introduced as an  accessibility tool to enhance the listening experience for users with hearing loss, it integrates with Apple Music on iPhones and utilises the Taptic Engine to create tactile feedback such as taps, textures, and vibrations in sync with the music.

To enable the feature, users can go to the Accessibility settings and turn on “Music Haptics.” Once activated, a logo will appear on the Now Playing screen in Apple Music, allowing users to easily pause or resume the feature by tapping the logo. Music Haptics is available worldwide on iPhone 12 and later, as long as the device is running iOS 18.

To commemorate the launch, Apple Music has curated special playlists like Haptics Beats and Haptics Bass. These feature songs with plenty of rhythmic elements designed to take full advantage of the new haptic feedback technology.

Apart from Apple Music, the new Music Haptics feature is designed to work with Apple Music Classical and Shazam as well. Additionally, the company confirmed that it will integrate with select third-party apps, which have yet to be confirmed, provided the iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi or cellular networks.
