What’s the story

Salesforce’s Chairman and CEO Marc Benioff, has expressed his optimism about India’s potential in the global market. He made these remarks during the annual “Dreamforce” event.

“You can see that the world is moving into an Indian era,” Benioff stated. He further emphasized that there is no doubt that the firm is heading toward an incredible moment in India.

Salesforce, a global customer relationship management (CRM) company, has made substantial investments in the country.

Salesforce’s investment and operations in India

Salesforce employs over 11,000 individuals in the country, many of whom cater to its worldwide client base. Benioff highlighted that Salesforce’s operations in India are not limited to engineering and support, but also extend to market penetration efforts.

Leadership and new AI solution

Benioff praised the company’s Indian leader, Arundhati Bhattacharya, a former SBI chairman.

He described her as an incredible leader who is supported by a competent managerial team.

At the same event, Salesforce introduced ‘Agentforce,’ an autonomous AI solution designed to streamline business functions like sales, service, marketing, as well as commerce.

‘Agentforce’ and its impact on future employment

The newly launched ‘Agentforce’ is an advanced tool that can autonomously retrieve relevant data, formulate action plans, and also execute tasks without human intervention.

Benioff acknowledged the potential of AI leading to job losses in the future, but emphasized that this largely depends on how companies manage it.

He cited an example where employees were successfully transitioned into sales roles, which resulted in higher growth.
