The new roundabout along Hwy. 30 at St. Landry Avenue in Gonzales will be operational ahead of the Boots on the Bayou music festival set for Oct. 31-Nov. 1, according to state and parish officials.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced in a news release that short term closures and shifts were planned for the night of Wednesday, Oct. 29 to shift traffic into the new roundabout along Hwy. 30 at St. Landry Avenue and Robert Wilson Road.
The following day, the roundabout will be fully operational, and St. Landry and Robert Wilson will be open to traffic, per DOTD.
The roundabout will have one lane of traffic once it is open, the agency reported.
According to DOTD, construction will continue in the area as the focus will turn to the two roundabouts being constructed nearby at the Interstate 10 ramps.
Motorists were reminded to expect delays when traveling through the work zone.

The two-day Boots on the Bayou music festival has been scheduled for Oct. 31-Nov. 1 at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center, which is located along St. Landry.
The center is located less than 30 minutes from Baton Rouge and less than an hour from New Orleans.
Scheduled performers include Keith Urban, Chris Stapleton, Paker McCollum, Carly Pearce, Riley Green, Marcus King Band, Maddox Batson, Tyler Braden, Chase Tyler, John Foster, Elle King, Ashley Cooke and Kruse Brothers.
The festival’s promoters announced Urban as a headlining act after Cody Johnson canceled his scheduled performances for the remainder of the year due to a severe sinus infection and upper respiratory infection that required surgery.
